Let's unpack this
The assumptions
- A single-location clinic that spends $2,400 each month on marketing: $1,000 on Google Ads, $1,000 on its website and local search, $400 on reviews, email and other.
- 25 new patients book a first visit each month, from about 400 visitors to the website.
- An average new patient comes for 8 visits at $110, so brings in $880.
- Online booking is the only thing that changes. Six more new patients a month get through.
None of these are measured results and none come from a client. Change them to your own clinic's figures; the method stays the same.
The arithmetic
- Today: $2,400 ÷ 25 = $96.00 per new patient.
- With 6 more: $2,400 ÷ 31 = $77.42 per new patient.
- Change: ($96.00 − $77.42) ÷ $96.00 = 19% lower.
How to find your own number
- Add up one month of everything you spend to be found and booked: ads, website, local search, reviews, email.
- Count the genuinely new patients who booked a first visit that month, from your booking software.
- Divide the first by the second. Do it again next month.
What this does not include
Staff time, repeat patients, referrals and the cost of care. We leave them out so the number stays easy to check. A single month can also swing; look at three before you trust the figure.
