Let's unpack this
The assumptions
- A single-location clinic that books about 25 new patients a month.
- An average new patient comes for 8 visits.
- An average visit brings in $110.
- Six more new patients a month book who would otherwise have rung twice, hit voicemail, or left the website without finding a time.
None of these are measured results and none come from a client. Change them to your own clinic's figures; the method stays the same.
The arithmetic
- One new patient: 8 visits × $110 = $880.
- Six more a month: 6 × $880 = $5,280 a month.
- Over a year: $5,280 × 12 = $63,360.
Where the extra bookings come from
Our scan of clinic homepages found that 33% of physiotherapy sites and 26% of chiropractic sites had no online booking at all. A clinic that closes that gap is giving people a way to book at the moment they decide, instead of during opening hours. How many that adds depends on the clinic. That is what the audit measures.
What this does not include
Repeat patients who come back for a second course, referrals from happy patients, and the cost of the work. We leave them out so the number stays easy to check.
